Bake & Brew Baking is therapeutic especially with some good friends and a good cuppa. Come join us for a baking workshop in a warm and welcoming kitchen. With different monthly themes, our baking workshops range from cookies, cake, and bread to pastry.
Workshops are a combination of hands-on and practical work with demonstrations. You will get to learn basic baking techniques and get tips for baking from scratch. At the end of the workshop, you will get to enjoy a cuppa and refreshment with fellow friends and bring home the fruit of your labor.
January: Gong Xi Fa Cai! Let’s welcome the new lunar year with a meaningful yet fun baking workshop Traditional Taiwanese Pineapple Cake Recipe.
Besides being a quintessential gift and treat of Taiwan, Taiwanese pineapple cake is considered as an auspicious delectable treat for Chinese New Year. The Taiwanese word for pineapple sounds very similar to the phrase for “good luck coming to you”. Thus, a gift of a pineapple expresses a wish for good luck, prosperity and happiness to the recipient. In this workshop, you will get to learn how to make buttery crust and crumbly pastry for the tradition Taiwanese pineapple cake recipe, wrap the pineapple filling around the dough and fit in a mold for the traditional pineapple cake.
While the pineapple cakes are inside the oven, our experienced instructor, Nick, will demonstrate how to make fortune cookies in both original and creative patterns. You will also get a chance to have fun making the cookies and bring some good fortune home!
